Delaware Motorcycle Permit Practice Test FAQs:

What questions are on the Delaware motorcycle permit test?

The Delaware DMV motorcycle permit exam features questions found within your DE DMV motorcycle operator’s handbook. Expect questions on required riding safety equipment, right-of-way rules, hand signals, and more.

What’s the difference between a motorcycle permit test and a regular permit test?

A motorcycle permit exam is an additional knowledge test required to earn a motorcycle endorsement on your driver’s license. It will ask questions specific to becoming a motorcycle rider, while the regular permit test (required for all Delaware drivers) pertains to general rules of the road for all vehicle types.

How do I earn my Delaware motorcycle license?

To earn your Delaware motorcycle endorsement on your license, you must be at least 16 years old and first earn a motorcycle permit by passing a written motorcycle knowledge test. Your permit is valid for 6 months, during which time you can practice riding before taking an on-cycle road skills exam to earn your endorsement.

Delaware motorcycle riders under 18 years old must also complete a Rider Education Program. If you’re 18 years old or older, you can voluntarily complete the Rider Education Program, which will waive the permit requirement and all required DMV-issued exams, including the knowledge and on-cycle skills exams.
