Maine Motorcycle Permit Practice Test Description

In order to receive your Maine motorcycle permit, you must first pass a written test and an on-road test. Our practice motorcycle permit test is a great way to prepare for the written test.

How Our Maine Motorcycle Permit Practice Test Helps You

Riding a motorcycle is an exhilarating way to travel, but you must first pass two tests to earn your permit: the written test and the on-road test. Before you can take the written test, you must be at least 16 years old and have held a driver's license for at least six months. You must receive parental consent to take the written test if you are under 18 years old. In lieu of taking the on-road test, you may also enroll in and pass a nationally standardized 15-hour Motorcycle Rider Course: Riding and Street Skills. The written test is not particularly difficult, but it can be tricky if you have not studied or taken any practice tests.

Our practice test will quiz you on riding rules including basic motorcycle maintenance, body positioning, what to do if the handlebar throttle gets stuck, when to use headlights and other proper motorcycle riding rules and techniques. Our practice tests will not only quiz you on these subjects, but they will also provide immediate feedback and explanations to help you learn test content faster. These rules will help you be a safer motorcycle rider.

Our practice tests will help you feel more confident when you sit for your actual exam. In order to pass the written test, you must answer at least 20 questions out of 25 correctly, with a score of 80 percent or higher. You can find all the information covered in the exam in the Maine BMV Motorcycle Riders Handbook. If you would like to practice recognizing road signs, you can also take our Road Signs and Signals practice test.
