What restrictions come with my driver’s permit?

The State of Nebraska has the following restrictions:

Learner’s Permit (LPE) and Learner’s Permit (Type LPD)
• You must be accompanied by a licensed drive who is 21 years or older. This person must sit in the seat next to you at all times.
• You are prohibited from using any type of wireless communication device while driving.

School Permit (SCP)
• You are allowed to drive unsupervised to and from school by taking the most direct route. All other driving must be supervised by a licensed driver who is 21 years or older. This person must sit in the seat next to you at all times.
• You are prohibited from using any type of wireless communication device while driving.

Provisional Operator’s Permit (POP)
• For the first six months, you may only have one passenger under the age of 19 in your vehicle unless they are member of your immediate family.
• You may drive unsupervised from 12 am to 6 am only if you are driving to or from work or to or from a school-sponsored activity.
• You are prohibited from using any type of wireless communication device while driving.
