The Benefits of New York Motorcycle Permit Practice Tests

If you are a driver who is planning to get a motorcycle permit in the state of New York, there are a few requirements that you will need to meet before earning your license. Practice tests can be a very useful tool that will help you prepare for the written exam.

Why the Motorcycle Permit Practice Test is so Useful

Many prospective motorcyclists experience some anxiety when it comes to the written portion of the Motorcycle Permit Test. Fortunately, there are practice tests available that will help you to fully prepare for the test ahead of time. In order to take the written portion of the exam, you need to be at least 16 years of age and have had a driver?s permit for no fewer than six months. Teen drivers younger than 18 years old also need the consent of a parent or guardian.

While you have a motorcycle permit, you are not allowed to drive your motorcycle on the highway or during nighttime hours. You are also not permitted to have passengers ride with you. A licensed motorcyclist over the age of 21 must be with you any time you are driving your motorcycle. You will also have to pass the driving portion of the test. The best way for you to get ready for the driving test is to have a licensed motorcyclist to help you practice driving on a safe street. If you complete the Basic Rider Course administered and certified by the New York Motorcycle Safety Foundation, you may be able to avoid taking the driving test.

The official New York Motorcycle permit test is made up of 25 questions. The answers to these questions can be found in the New York DMV Motorcycle Operator Manual. You have to get at least 20 of these 25 questions correctly to pass the test, so there is little room for error. It is a good idea for you to use practice tests that use real questions from the official exam to help you prepare. In addition to completely reading through and studying the motorcycle operator manual, these practice tests will ensure that you retain the information needed to pass the test successfully on the first try.
