About the TX Permit Practice Test for Teens

The Texas teen permit practice test you're about to take contains 20 questions to prepare you for getting a driving permit. The questions cover topics you'll be tested on for the official Texas teen permit test. This practice DPS permit test includes multiple choice questions on subject matter such as driving rules, passengers, safety laws and road signs and signals. Topics on this test also include speed limits, use of cell phones, safety around pedestrians, hazardous road and weather conditions and parking. If you're unsure of the answer to a question, you may make a guess. If you answer incorrectly, you'll receive feedback that includes the correct answer to the question as well as a reference to the Texas teen driver handbook so you can go back and review that information.

In order to pass the TX permit practice test, you need to answer at least 80 percent of the questions correctly. You can take the practice test as many times as you need. Taking the Texas driving permit practice test several times allows you to familiarize yourself with the subject matter so you can be as prepared as possible when you arrive at the Texas DPS to take the official exam. To get your official teen permit in the Lone Star state, you'll need to answer at least 21 of the 30 questions correctly. You'll also need to provide a fingerprint and have your photograph taken.

Other Texas Teen Permit Practice Tests

In addition to the written DPS permit test, you'll also need to pass a driver's education course. In order to prepare yourself for the written exam and the driver's education classes, you may want to take some additional practice quizzes. Some recommended quizzes for new teen drivers in Texas include the Texas DPS road signs and signals test and the Texas DPS new to state drivers practice test. You can also take these practice tests as many times as you need.

  • If the pedestrian has a WALK signal.
  • At an uncontrolled intersection.
  • If there is not a pedestrian control signal, give the pedestrian the right-of-way on a green light.
