IL Teen Permit Practice Test Description

Before learning how to drive, you must first obtain an Illinois driving permit, which requires studying the Illinois Drivers Manual. To better prepare for this exam, take our IL permit practice test.

Methods for Passing the SOS Permit Test

When you're a teenager, it's inevitable that you look forward to the day when you can drive anytime you would like. If you want to become a fully licensed driver, you will need to earn an Illinois teen permit first. To do so, you must to pass a couple of driving exams designed to ascertain whether or not you are ready to take on this huge responsibility. These exams have been divided into a written exam and an on-the-road one. The written exam consists of 2 separate sections, one focused on Illinois driving rules and another that asks you to identify specific traffic signals. It's important to note that the IL permit practice test was crafted as a means to prepare prospective permit holders for the driving rules segment of the written exam. With the right study skills and motivation, you will find that taking the SOS permit test can be less stressful.

As you are taking the multiple-choice written exam, it will be clear to you that the overall questions on the practice quiz and exam are similar. However, you will also find that these questions change every time you take the test, meaning that they may not be the same ones that appear on your actual test. Despite this, taking the practice test will let you see the type of questions that will appear on the SOS permit test.

Similar to the permit test, the practice quiz is comprised of 20 total questions. You must answer 16 or more questions correctly to pass. This equates to 80 percent or better. Take your time to look through the Illinois Drivers Manual to find all of the info you need to know about state driving rules such as what to do when you encounter a flashing red light and cellphone rules when driving. Our Road Signs and Signals practice test will also help you to become a more aware driver.
