What driver’s education is required?

The State of Nebraska has the following educational requirements:

School Permit (SCP)
• You must successfully complete an approved Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) driver safety course, or
• You must complete a 50-hour certification form signed by your parent, legal guardian or a licensed drive who is 21 years or older.

• Provisional Operator’s Permit (POP)
• You must successfully an approved Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) driver safety course, or
• You must complete a 50-hour certification form signed by your parent, legal guardian or a licensed drive who is 21 years or older. The certification form must indicate that at least 10 hours of driving was done between sunset and sunrise.
