Louisiana Teen Permit Practice Test Description

To receive your Louisiana driving permit, you will have to successfully complete a written test. Improve your chances for passing it on your first try by taking a LA permit practice test.

How a LA Permit Practice Test Helps Get You Ready

Getting your driver's license is a major milestone in life. Like many states, Louisiana uses a graduated drivers license program designed to ensure that its drivers are fully prepared for what they are likely to encounter on the road before they receive their license. Earning your Louisiana teen permit is the first step in this program. To obtain your permit, you must be at least 15 years of age, pass a vision exam, complete a driver's education course and pass a written knowledge exam. The knowledge exam is not overly difficult, but it can be nerve-wracking if you aren't really prepared. Practicing with a permit practice test will give you the knowledge and confidence to ace the real thing.

The questions for the Louisiana driving permit knowledge exam are drawn from the Louisiana OMV Driver's Handbook, which covers a lot of information. Taking our Louisiana teen permit practice test can help you process this information, allowing you to discover what facts you know and what areas you need to study further. Since the practice test is set up to mimic the actual OMV permit test, you'll also get the chance to become comfortable with the testing format. Repeat our practice test as often as you like until you feel certain that you are ready to face the real test.

In the computerized exam, you will face 40 multiple choice questions about driving rules and regulations, road signs and signals, and safe driving practices. To pass, you must score at least 80 percent by answering a minimum of 32 of the questions correctly. Once you do, you will be awarded your drivers permit. This will allow you to drive when accompanied by a licensed driver over the age of 21 or a sibling over the age of 18. When you reach your 16th birthday and have maintained this permit for at least 180 days, you will be eligible to take the skills test and advance to an intermediate license. After that, you will be able to obtain a full-fledged Louisiana drivers license.
