Pass Your Permit Test When You Take a New York Motorcycle Permit Practice Test

Getting your New York motorcycle permit is the first step to getting your full motorcycle license. Our practice test can help you to improve your score and pass the test.

Passing Your Motorcycle Permit Test and Beyond

Did you know that New York lets those as young as 16 apply for a motorcycle permit? Those younger drivers can apply for a permit and later obtain a license that comes with some restrictions, but adult drivers over the age of 18 can get a license that doesn't have those restrictions. All drivers need to bring proof of their identity and insurance when applying for a permit or a license. No matter how much experience you have operating a motorcycle in New York or any other state, you'll still need to get your New York motorcycle permit first, which involves passing the motorcycle permit test.

Once you pass your permit test, you have two options. One option is a rider safety course. The NY Department of Motor Vehicles has a list of approved programs that are available. If you pass that course, you can apply for a full license without taking a road skills test. Drivers who don't take one of those rider safety courses will need to take a road skills test and show an instructor that they're capable of driving a motorcycle. Minors also need to show that they've met the minimum requirements to obtain a full license, including taking an approved course and accumulating a certain number of hours of driving experience.

While we don't offer resources for your road skills test, we do offer resources that will help you get your New York motorcycle permit. Start with our motorcycle permit practice test. The 20 questions found on that test come from more than 50 different questions that were chosen from the state manual for motorcycle operators. Taking our motorcycle permit test the night before or the morning of your test will give you a quick refresher on the skills and topics that are found on the test. If you have an Internet-enabled device, you'll even find that you can take the test while waiting for your appointment, or while you're on your way to the DMV. If you want to operate a motorcycle in New York and need to take the permit test first, our practice tests can help you.
