PA Permit Practice Test Description

If you are looking to drive for the first time, you will need a Pennsylvania driving permit, which requires you to pass a couple of tests to obtain. Prepare for these tests by taking our PA permit practice test.

How to Increase Your Chances of Passing the PennDOT Permit Test

While it would be wonderful if you could simply enter the DOT and receive your Pennsylvania teen permit, there's more to it than that. It's important to pass a number of driving exams, as they allow the DOT to decide whether or not you're ready to drive. Thankfully, you will find that these tests are neither too difficult nor too frustrating to pass, as long as you utilize the correct study and practice methods to increase your chances of passing the tests on your first try. You will need to take a written exam and a driving exam before receiving your Pennsylvania driving permit. The written exam contains both a driving rules and road signs portion. Our PA permit practice test allows you to prepare for the section of the PennDOT permit test that focuses on driving rules.

When taking this practice test, you will notice that each question is in the form of multiple-choice like the actual test. While the questions are formulated to resemble those found on the PennDOT permit test, they both contain different sets of questions, due in large part to the fact that they are randomized. You won't be able to study the exact questions and must rely on memorizing what you have studied beforehand. You can find all of this information within the Pennsylvania Drivers Manual. An example of the driving rules you might see include what speed you should drive at within a school zone and what to do when merging with traffic.

The practice quiz contains 20 different questions, of which you will be tasked with answering 16 or more correctly in order to pass, equating to 80 percent. Even if you fail the first time, you can take this practice test as many times as you see fit. It's recommended that you take the quiz at least a few times. As you will also be tested on road and traffic signs, you should take our road signs and signals practice test as well.
