Kentucky Motorcycle Permit Practice Test Description

To drive a bike legally in Kentucky, you must have your permit. Familiarizing yourself with the state motorcycle handbook and taking a few of our practice tests will help you prepare.

What to Expect from the Kentucky Motorcycle Permit Test

If you own a street-legal motorcycle, then you, too, should be legal when you drive it. To pass the motorcycle permit test, you'll have to take a series of differing exams that are very similar to the regular driver's license test. There will be a portion that requires you to identify common and obscure road signs. The main section of the test will quiz you on basic road safety and motorcycle specific questions. You'll also have to take a road test where you'll typically be required to prove your bike skills to a DMV instructor. While we can't help you with the road test, we can offer you all the study material and practice tests you'll need to ensure that you drive away with your motorcycle permit.

To get the most out of our study resources, we suggest first going over the Kentucky drivers' and motorcycle handbooks. Even though you're going for your motorcycle permit, you need to learn and understand all the traffic laws. This will not only help you pass the written exams, but it will also keep you and other drivers safe while navigating the streets and roads of Kentucky. After you have read the handbooks, try taking a motorcycle permit practice test. We offer this free-of-charge, so it's a good idea to practice as many as you need until you feel confident in your knowledge of the rules of the road.

Testing will typically be broken up into several days, sometimes weeks apart. You'll be required to complete the written portions of the tests and then come back to do the road skills section. If you've completed an optional motorcycle safety course, you'll be exempt from having to take the road test. During the written tests, you'll be asked 25 questions of which you must answer at least 20 correctly to pass. Taking full-advantage of our practice tests will help you prepare to pass the actual exam the first time. We also offer numerous other helpful resources to answer your questions and expand your driving knowledge.
