Montana Motorcycle Permit Practice Test Description
Ready to earn your Montana motorcycle permit and hit the road on two wheels? Use our motorcycle practice test to prepare yourself for the tests you will need to pass.
How Our Practice Test Gets You Ready
Motorcycle permits are only available to licensed drivers. You will need to pass a knowledge test, which is the most challenging part of the process. Expect questions about traffic laws, safe motorcycle riding practices, equipment, road signage, riding on different road surfaces, mechanical problems, safe group-riding practices and how to properly handle the various situations you may encounter while riding. All the information on the test is available in the MVD's Montana Motorcycle Supplement. After reading this handbook, review what you have learned with our Montana motorcycle permit practice test. Created to mirror the actual test, our practice test is a great way to test your knowledge so that you can be confident about what you know and identify any gaps in your understanding. You are welcome to repeat the test as often as you choose. Doing so allows you to become more familiar, and thus more comfortable, with the material and the testing format. Knowing what to expect makes it easier to avoid mistakes.
A comprehensive assessment, the motorcycle permit test consists of 25 questions. To earn a passing score of at least 80 percent, you will need to correctly answer a minimum of 20 of them. Doing so allows you to obtain your motorcycle permit. Also referred to as a motorcycle learner license, it is good for one year and allows you to legally ride your motorcycle on Montana roads under the direct supervision of another driver who possess a valid motorcycle license. During that year, you are expected to demonstrate your mastery of motorcycle riding by passing the motorcycle skills test. Held on either a closed course or an open road, the motorcycle skills tests evaluates your ability to handle a motorcycle and to apply your knowledge of traffic laws, road signage and safe driving practices appropriately.
