How to Use Our Practice Test Effectively
While safety is an important factor that every driver needs to be mindful of, it is even more critical for motorcyclists. With that fact in mind, the state of Montana purposefully created tough exams for people intent on obtaining a motorcycle permit. This ensures that only motorcyclists who have been thoroughly briefed in motorcycle operations and safe riding practices will be awarded motorcycle licenses.
What steps can you take to prepare for your motorcycle permit test? First, discover the information you need to know in the MVD's "Montana Motorcycle Supplement." To get your Montana motorcycle permit, you must pass a written knowledge test comprised of 25 multiple choice questions about safe riding practices, traffic laws, road signage, safe practices for riding in a group, mechanical issues, equipment requirements, riding on varying road surfaces and how to properly handle the various situations motorcyclists are likely to encounter while riding. Passing requires answering at least 20 questions correctly. The test is open to licensed drivers age 16 and up. Individuals who are 15 and have completed an appropriate driver education program can also sit for the written test.
