When can I get my driver’s license?

A driver may receive a driver’s license when the following conditions are met:

• Applicants must have held an instruction permit for a minimum of six months
Applicants must have 50 hours of supervised driving experience and have taken a traffic safety education course approved by ODOT, or must have 100 hours supervised driving experience with a driver 21 years or older who has held a license for at least three years.
• Applicant must be at least 16 years old to apply for a provisional license, or 18 to apply for a full driver’s license.
• For those under the age of 18, a provisional license must be held for a minimum of 12 months or until the holder turns 18, whichever comes first, before the license converts to a full license.
