Illinois Drivers License Practice Test Description

Illinois state law requires every driver to pass the SOS test before they are issued an Illinois drivers license. We have developed IL SOS practice tests to help you better prepare yourself for the real thing. When combining studying with taking these tests, you are setting yourself up for success.

How Taking Our SOS Practice Test Can Benefit You

Our IL SOS practice test is free and available for you to take as many times as you will need. The SOS wants to make sure that every driver knows the rules of the road before they let you get behind the wheel. The test includes multiple-choice questions that have slight variations, which may cause you to be unsure of the right answer without proper study. Studying your Illinois drivers manual will provide you with the information you will need to know, and taking our practice tests will help you feel more confident about passing the Illinois drivers test.

The Illinois drivers exam has 35 questions, of which you must answer 28 correctly. If you fail the Illinois drivers license test more than three times within a 12-month period, you are required to retake all the exams and repay the fees. It is best to pass on the first attempt, saving you time and money. The test itself not only covers the rules of the road, but also road signs and signals. After you have thoroughly studied your Illinois drivers manual, take our practice test and our Illinois road signs and signals practice test.

After you pass your written exam and a vision test, you will receive your permit. You must be at least 18 years old to receive your drivers license, unless you are between the ages of 16 and 17 and have successfully completed a drivers education course. Once you have your permit, you can practice your driving skills for the upcoming driving test. If you pass your driving test and meet the requirements, you are well on your way to receiving your drivers license.
