New Driving Laws for 2011 in Texas
Texas is helping to lead the nation, in passing bans to using texting devices, cell phones, and other hand-held devices. In addition to the laws mentioned below, many more are in the works in the Texas legislature. Ten more bills have been submitted, which address texting and driving, and have been filed for consideration for the 2011 legislative session. According to lawmakers who are proposing these bills, they are trying to strike a fair compromise between civil liberties and safety.
Traffic Citation Trial Dates in Maryland
Drivers who receive citations for traffic violations after January First, 2011 are required to request a trial date. In the past, trial dates were automatically assigned. Those who receive a traffic violation in Maryland now have three choices; they can pay the fine, request a hearing regarding sentencing and disposition in lieu of a trial, or request a trial date. The deadline to make one of these three choices and notify the District Court is 30 days from the date that the citation was issued. This new law does not apply for must appear violations, such as drunk driving.
New York State Enacts Move Over Law
The State of New York joined most other states at the beginning of this year by passing the Ambrose-Searles Act, also known as the Move Over Act. As of January First, 2011, drivers are required to slow down and use due care when they see police, emergency rescue or fire vehicles parked or stopped on a public thoroughfare with their emergency lights activated.
Ford Electrifies the Focus But Not the General Public
The Ford Focus has been around for some time, but the company is planning on releasing by 2013 a totally electric version of the car. The plan for the look of the car is somewhat like an Aston Martin, very chic; however, many of the people who have posted comments about this new vehicle all seem to share my view: we are not sold. For instance, this type of vehicle would not work for people living outside of the city that have a long commute. It won't work for long road trips. And the style of the plug for the charging pack is a 240-volt, which is not commonly found in the United States.
Power Mat Cordless Chargers in GM Vehicles
The General Motors Company has decided to team up with Powermat, a wireless startup company that specializes in mat-based charging devices for all of one's electronic devices, such as cell phones and MP3 players. The powermat will be installed first in the Chevy Volt. According to insiders at GM, it will be in the Volt within 18 months; however, they plan on putting in into all of their vehicles eventually.
Stop Light Cameras in Southern California
Have you ever been ticketed by a Camera? In the City of San Diego there are 19 Cameras setup at various Stop lights. At least they WERE up and running! As of November 2010, San Diego City has turned the controversial Stop Light Cameras OFF.
New Driving laws for Michigan
Lately I have noticed some changes to the Michigan driving laws. In 2010 Michigan has set in place steeper penalties for driving under the influence of alcohol, restrictions on when teenage drivers may be on the road, and how many passengers teens may have with them. Text while driving has now been added to part of the reckless driving laws in Michigan.
Moving State to State
When I got married to my husband who was in the military, I thought to myself that I would be able to travel and see the world and lots of different places. Well of course I did but it was not overseas because he was always deployed. What I was able to do though was move state to state and visit each Department of Motor Vehicles to make sure I could drive in their state. There is this funny little law that says you cannot have a license, car insurance and a home residence in different states.
DMV Practice Tests for CDL Drivers
There are several occupations that will require you to take DMV practice tests and if you want to be one of the CDL drivers on the road you will need to read up on the rules for their specific driving test. If you are trying to enter into the job market there are several fields that you can go into but if you are not one that decides to go to college and specialize in a field then you may want to consider a trade. When you select a trade you will want to try and pick up something that you can take with you no matter what state you live in.
DMV Practice Tests- For the First Time Driver
When you first reviewed the DMV practice tests that you picked up it looked a little harder than you anticipated but you know if you studied hard you would be able to pass and you did. Now, you ask your mom if you can drive the car and start getting driving lessons. Of course, she is nervous and it seems that everything you do it wrong. You remind her that you are one of those first time drivers she complains about and to please not yell because it makes you nervous.
